Los Angeles County stadiums host food, supply drives for fire victims

A dozen sports teams that call the Los Angeles area home are continuing their work to give back to those in need due to the ongoing wildfires in Southern California.

At Dodger Stadium, SoFi Stadium and BMO Stadium, evacuees can pick up food, supplies and other necessary items. Proof of residency in an affected zip code is required.

A woman named Sandy spoke with KTLA’s Kareen Wynter about what it was like to have to evacuate their Pasadena home “in the middle of the night” and what an event like this means to them.

“We’re not able to wash our clothes. We’ve been able to hand-wash things anywhere we can go,” Sandy said. “Something as simple as getting underwear for my son, just clean items, it’s greatly appreciated. We’re excited for something positive to finally happen.”

Los Angeles teams have been impacted by the fires, with some games postponed, but they’ve also held donation drives when they can compete.

Teams have also partnered with Fanatics to raise money through the sale of “LA Strong” shirts and sweatshirts.
