Miami-Dade teacher sexually abused a 14-year-old student for months, deputies say
A Miami-Dade physical-education teacher was allegedly sexually abusing one of his 14-year-old students for eight months, during two school years and over summer break, authorities said. He was charged Friday.
Bryant Caniz-Segovia, 20, taught at Hope Academy, a private school at 1100 Old Dixie Highway, when he began the abuse of the girl, an arrest report read.
The teen told Miami-Dade Sheriff’s deputies that between February and October, Caniz-Segovia had sex with her three or four times during the eight-month period. She also said they would exchange nude pictures with each other over social media.
On Friday, he was arrested and questioned by detectives on two counts of lewd and lascivious battery on a child.
According to court records, Cainz-Segovia bonded out of the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center and was ordered to stay away from the 14-year-old girl.
